В откр. печах прим. металлич. н. из жаростойких сплавов сопротивления (нихрома, фехраля и др.) с большим уд. электросопротивлением (1 — 1,5 мкОм • м) в виде спиралей из проволоки диам. 2-8 мм или зигзагов из ленты толщ. 1-2 мм и шириной 10-80 мм, неметаллич. н. из карборунда, графита и дисилицида молибдена в виде стержней или U-образной формы. В вакуумных высокотемп-ных печах прим. трубчатые н. из тугопл. металлов или графита, внутр. полость к-рых формирует раб. простр-во. В соляных ваннах прим. закр. трубч. н., внутри к-рых проволочная спираль запрессована в электроизоляц. наполнитель (периклаз). Тепловую работу н. хар-ризуют плотностью поверхностной мощности, к-рая определяет срок его службы.
